AR19679407 «Development of agrobiotechnologies for the introduction of a valuable medicinal and fodder plant, Rhaponticum carthamoides in Northern Kazakhstan»

Relevance

Currently, natural plant resources provide a large amount of raw materials for industry, agriculture and medicine. However, every year this raw material becomes less and less. The reason is the depletion of the botanical composition of the grass stand, the disappearance of species valuable for food due to their instability to abiotic and biotic environmental factors. To solve this problem, it is necessary to conduct research on the introduction and expansion of the range of feed and medicinal crops that meet the needs of agriculture, medicine and the food industry. One of these crops is Rhaponticum carthamoides, containing various biologically active compounds (flavonoids, polysaccharides, saponins, cumanins). This species is of particular value as a producer of ultra-high quantities of ecdysteroids. Within the framework of this project, it is planned to conduct comprehensive research on the development of highly effective agrobiotechnological approaches to the propagation and conservation of the medicinal species Rhaponticum carthamoides for subsequent introduction and expansion of the range of forage crops.

Project goal

development of in vitro cultivation technologies and agrotechnical cultivation methods for the introduction of a valuable medicinal and fodder plant, Rhaponticum carthamoides in Northern Kazakhstan.

Expected results

  • Collection of initial plant material of R. carthamoídes will be carried out in places of natural growth
  • An in vitro collection of the valuable medicinal plant R. carthamoides will be created
  • A technology for in vitro propagation of the valuable medicinal plant R. carthamoídes will be developed for further introduction in the conditions of Northern Kazakhstan
  • An introduction nursery of wild specimens and regenerated plants of R. carthamoídes will be created for plantation cultivation in the steppe zone of Northern Kazakhstan
  • The potential for using R. carthamoídes as a forage crop when cultivated in the steppe zone of Northern Kazakhstan will be studied
  • The medicinal value of R. carthamoídes will be studied under different cultivation technologies in the steppe zone of Northern Kazakhstan.
