Biosafety issues were discussed at the National Center for Biotechnology

Friends, as you know, the National Center for Biotechnology has been designated by the decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a Contact point for the implementation of the mediation mechanism to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.

The Center in this status promotes the exchange of scientific, technical, environmental and legal information and experience in relation to living modified organisms and genetically modified objects.

These and other issues of biological safety were discussed at a seminar with the participation of experts from the Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University named after S. Seifullin, representatives of the Veterinary Control Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Holding «QazBioFarm».

During the seminar, issues of legal regulation in the field of turnover of genetically modified organisms in Kazakhstan and abroad were discussed. Methods of monitoring genetically modified organisms are announced.

The participants of the seminar were presented with the development of the Candidate of Biological Sciences, professor of the Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University named after S. Seifullin Borovikov Sergey Nikolaevich is an express test for the detection of Campylobacter jejuni in animal products.

At the end of the meeting, a productive exchange of views took place.
