At the National Center for Biotechnology we prioritize scientific knowledge and recognize its importance and fundamental role in society. We believe that only through the advancement of science can we improve the quality of life and reach new heights. This is why we have put a lot of effort into developing strategic documents that define the development of science in our country.

In 1993, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Center for Biotechnology was established, which became a significant step in the development of biotechnology in our country. Our center facilitates the exchange of ideas between young and experienced scientists, maintains the link between science and practice, and serves as a foundation for training professionals and expanding cooperation in the field of biotechnology.

The National Center for Biotechnology carries out programs in the field of biotechnology, biosafety and agriculture. We aim to promote interdisciplinary research in the field of life sciences and technologies to maximize the impact of biotechnological advancements for the benefit of society. Our mission is to turn biotechnology in Kazakhstan into a high-income business of knowledge-intensive technologies and to be a standard of quality and high-level science.

The foundation of our center is our employees. We are proud to have professionals dedicated to achieving high scientific results. In our team, we have over 250 highly qualified specialists in the fields of biotechnology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, virology, immunology, and pharmacology. Among them are 15 doctors of science, 44 candidates of science, 28 PhDs, as well as 8 graduates of the “Bolashak” program, who have undergone training in universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and the Czech Republic. Many of our employees have completed internships in top research centers in near and far abroad.

We continuously improve ourselves and strive to stay up-to-date with the latest scientific achievements. Therefore, our center regularly organizes lectures and training seminars with the participation of leading scientists and specialists in various fields of biology and biotechnology, as well as representatives of well-known laboratory equipment manufacturing companies. Thanks to these events, our employees have the opportunity to exchange experiences with scientists and specialists from the United States, Russia, Germany, France, Korea, and Israel.
