On April 18, 2025, as part of the Decade of Science – 2025, a scientific seminar was held at the National Center for Biotechnology LLP (NCB LLP), featuring a presentation by Aidar Dairov, a researcher at the Stem Cell Laboratory of NCB LLP and a second-year PhD student at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University NJSC, enrolled in the educational program «8D05107-Biology». The topic of the presentation was: «Mesenchymal stem cells and their exosomes: a review, medical relevance, and efficacy evaluation in a mouse model of psoriasis». In his talk, the speaker highlighted the key aspects of stem cells, including their classification, characteristics of embryonic and somatic stem cells, approaches to autologous and allogeneic therapy, promising directions in stem cell-based therapies, clinically approved stem cell products, and current challenges associated with their application in medical practice. Particular attention was given to the biology of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their exosomes, including their advantages, limitations, and strategies to enhance their therapeutic potential. The speaker placed special emphasis on psoriasis as an autoimmune disease affecting the skin and joints. He presented up-to-date data on the pathogenesis, epidemiology, and treatment methods of psoriasis, including experimental and clinical approaches involving MSCs and their exosomes. The presentation also covered the results of the speaker’s dissertation research conducted under grant project AP13068269, aimed at evaluating the therapeutic effect of cytokine-preconditioned MSC-derived exosomes in a mouse model of psoriasis. The seminar generated strong interest and sparked active discussion among participants, during which current issues in cell therapy were addressed and future plans for the continuation of the dissertation research were outlined. The event was organized with the support of the Council of Young Scientists of NCB LLP.
