From September 17 to 19, 2025, Nazarbayev University (Astana, Kazakhstan) hosted the international scientific conference Life Sciences Today 2025 – Frontiers in Biomedicine: Infer, Innovate, Impact, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the National Laboratory Astana (NLA) and the 15th anniversary of the Center for Life Sciences (CLS). The event brought together over 400 participants from the USA, Europe, and Asia, with more than 40 presentations delivered by leading scientists in the field of biomedicine.
As part of the conference, competitions for young scientists were held. The Best Poster Award was presented to Aidar Kuanishbekovich Dairov, a research fellow at the Stem Cell Laboratory of the National Center for Biotechnology and a PhD student at the Department of General Biology and Genomics, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
He presented a poster entitled: “In vivo study of the therapeutic efficacy of preconditioned mesenchymal stem cells and their exosomes in a mouse model of imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like skin inflammation“,in the “Regenerative Medicine and Bioengineering” section.
The study focused on evaluating the anti-inflammatory properties of human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-MSCs) and their exosomes in a mouse model of psoriasis. The strongest therapeutic effect was observed in the group treated with exosomes derived from hUCB-MSCs preconditioned with a combination of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-17A, IL-22, TNF-α). The poster sparked great interest among participants and received high praise from the expert jury for its scientific significance, practical relevance, and the presenter’s excellent communication skills.
