The OIC Award Ceremony in Science and Technology was held in Astana on Sunday. The First Islamic Summit on Science and Technology paid tribute to selected scientists from the Islamic world for their efforts to serve their countries and Islamic world through their achievements in the scientific fields.
"We need to understand and support our scientists in their research and for this purpose, within the framework of the OIC, we have decided on a Prize for our scientists. And today, we will award the first Prize. We must develop an innovative cluster, which is the basis of sustainable economic development. And Kazakhstan created such cluster on the basis of Nazarbayev University. I call on all researchers to work within the framework of such clusters," he said.
President of Kazakhstan presented the award to Director General of National Center for Biotechnology Yerlan Ramankulov for work in the field of biotechnology.

Prof. Yusuf Yagci from Istanbul University (chemistry);
Prof. Alouini from the King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (electrical engineering and telecommunications);
Prof. Assan Jaye, the Head of Research Training and Career Development at the Medical Research Council in the Gambia (viral immunology);
Prof. Rajaâ Cherkaoui El Moursli from Mohammed V University in Morocco (nuclear physics).
