On the 21st of June 2017 British Counsil and the Alliance of Technology Commercialisation Professionals of Kazakhstan held UK-Kazakhstan commercialisation forum in UK Pavilion at EXPO 2017: Future Energy.
A forum for universities, research centres, commercialisation professionals, policy makers and investors was organized as a part of UK education programme for EXPO-2017. The event became a platform for exchange of views and experiences in the field of commercialisation of technology. During plenary session spokepersons of UK leading organizations in the area of commercialisation of science addressed the forum: Oxford University Innovation, Nesta and University of Manchester. Experience of Kazakhstan in this field was reflected in reports of Yerlan Ramankulov, Director General of National Center for Biotechnology, Kanat Baigarin, vice-president of Nazarbayev University, and Abdilda Shamenov, President of the Alliance of Technology Commercialisation Professionals of Kazakhstan.
Yerlan Ramankulov presented startups of National Center for Biotechnology, which are based on usage of innovative technologies in health care, agriculture and geotechnology. Produced projects included:
- production of recombinant therapeutic proteins with immunostimulatory and antiviral activity;
- technology of obtaining of virus-free potato microtubers;
- DNA-based testing kits for the individual dosing of Warfarin and Plavix;
bacterial-chemical technology for deep processing of waste and off-balance ore with complex extraction of valuable metals.
